Pitcher Patrick Mahomes Sr. started his professional journey with the Elizabethton Twins in the Appalachian League, a rookie-level affiliate of the Minnesota Twins based in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Subsequently, he briefly played for another Minor League Baseball team, the Portland Beavers, before debuting in the majors with the Twins in 1992.
After his tenure with the Twins until 1996, he became a free agent and joined the Boston Red Sox for a season before being released in 1997. He then played for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan from 1997 to 1998.
