The offseason isn't just a time for Patrick Mahomes to recuperate; his wife and former high school sweetheart, Brittany, disclosed on Wednesday that she's dealing with a fractured back, which she attributes to the demands of motherhood to their two children: three-year-old Sterling and one-year-old Bronze.
Taking to Instagram, Brittany shared a poignant reminder about the importance of post-childbirth pelvic floor care. "Just your daily reminder: Once you have kids please take care of your pelvic floor," she urged. "Seriously. From: A girl with a fractured back."
Pregnancy and childbirth can weaken pelvic floors, leading to issues such as a lack of lower-back support. Brittany, a 28-year-old former high school soccer star, coupled her message with a selfie. While she didn't disclose her current location, she was sighted arriving at an airport in Mexico on Wednesday, where she and her family plan to unwind for a few days.
In another post, she pondered whether vacationing with her loved ones might aid in her recovery: "… vacaying with my homies will maybe make [my back] better?"
The past month has been bustling for the Mahomes family.
It all kicked off with Patrick's Chiefs securing their second consecutive Super Bowl victory, triumphing over the San Francisco 49ers in overtime at Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium. The very next day, the family jetted off to Disneyland for the customary Super Bowl MVP visit.
Brittany later reminisced on Instagram about the post-Super Bowl celebrations, highlighting it as a memorable time for both parents and their children, Sterling and Bronze. She even mused about repeating the experience next year.
Despite the jubilation, the atmosphere darkened during the Chiefs' Super Bowl parade in Kansas City when gunmen opened fire, resulting in numerous injuries and a tragic fatality. Brittany and Patrick made visits to the shooting victims in the following days.
Subsequently, the couple hosted a third birthday party for their daughter Sterling Skye. A video shared on Instagram showcased Sterling enjoying herself on various amusement park rides, including slides and a bounce house. In one adorable moment, she's seen sipping from a teacup.
"We celebrated our Sterling Skye today!" Brittany exclaimed in a Sunday Instagram post. "I can't believe she's turning three in just a few days! Time flies when you're having fun! We love you, baby girl."
As for Patrick, he now has some downtime before June minicamp and OTAs. However, his focus will soon shift back to training camp on July 23 as the Chiefs aim to make history by becoming the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
