Patrick Mahomes Shifts into Dad Mode: Comedy Unfolds as Chiefs' Star Shields Daughter's Eyes During Solar Eclipse

Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes assumed the role of a vigilant parent on Monday, ensuring the safety of his young daughter Sterling during the solar eclipse. This rare celestial event, known as the Great American Eclipse, captivated over 180 million people as the moon obscured the sun. Mahomes, like millions of others, wore multicolored glasses to witness the phenomenon.

His wife Brittany shared a video on Instagram showing Mahomes and their three-year-old daughter Sterling in their protective eyewear, gazing up at the sky to catch a glimpse of the eclipse. However, Sterling, caught up in the excitement of the cosmic spectacle, seemed unaware of the necessity of the glasses.

In another Instagram story post by Brittany, Sterling was seen toddling around their patio before pausing to look up at the sun again without her protective glasses. Mahomes swiftly switched into "dad mode," rushing over to shield her eyes from the bright light.

Later, Mahomes shared a photo of Sterling looking mesmerized by the eclipse, this time with her mom Brittany ensuring she wore her glasses in the background. "Mood," Mahomes captioned the post initially, before adding, "That was crazy not going to lie."

The total solar eclipse brought the nation to a standstill as millions paused work and classes to witness this rare event. Mahomes was among several celebrities, including Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Biel, Kelly Osbourne, and Irina Shayk, who observed the eclipse.

NFL teams across the country also joined in on the fun, with Aaron Rodgers and Jalen Hurts among those featured in comical social media posts. The New York Jets posted a picture of Aaron Rodgers in eclipse glasses, captioned "eclipse ready."

The Giants shared a humorous clip showing the moon blocking the sun, with an unexpected twist featuring Dexter 'Sexy Dexy' Lawrence II. The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles also got in on the action with playful eclipse-themed posts.
