Serena Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, reflects on the 'infuriating' recklessness of nurses during Olympia's birth, saying, "She Nearly D.I.E.D"

Serena Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, recently revealed shocking details about his wife's pregnancy and childbirth. In 2017, the Reddit co-founder welcomed their eldest daughter, Olympia Ohanian. Following the pregnancy, Williams experienced significant health challenges, exacerbated by her history of abnormal blood clotting.

During a recent podcast with Channing Chowder on the Pivot Podcast, Ohanian opened up about Serena Williams' post-pregnancy struggles, expressing his frustration with the treatment she received. Alongside Ryan Clerk and Fred Taylor, Ohanian discussed the mistreatment and challenges Serena faced after giving birth.

Ohanian expressed his anger, stating, "But to see the things I have now seen, to be as close to someone I felt it, especially about someone I love, man, it is infuriating." He recounted Serena's near-death experience due to a pulmonary embolism, which she had to self-diagnose in the hospital. Despite her concerns, nurses initially dismissed her symptoms, prompting Ohanian to advocate for her care.

Reflecting on the challenges during Olympia's birth, Williams admitted, "I'm not good at making decisions." She described the need for calm direction during childbirth, especially as a first-time mother. Despite her desire for a vaginal birth, she ultimately prioritized her health and safety.

Ohanian's revelation sheds light on the negligence within the American healthcare system. Serena Williams' own account underscores the severity of mistreatment during childbirth, leading to complications. Despite the challenges, the couple now enjoys a fulfilling family life with their two daughters, leaving those difficult days behind.
