Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes, the millionaire philanthropists, have marked a significant milestone by investing a substantial sum in Kansas City, commemorating an important achievement.

The occasion holds particular significance as it celebrates the anniversary of Mahomes' investment in the KC Current stadium. In recognition of the couple's efforts, particularly quarterback Mahomes, the KC Current's Instagram page shared a heartfelt caption alongside the post, acknowledging Mahomes' historic feat of becoming the first active NFL player to have equity in a NWSL team.

As the National Women's Soccer League gears up for the 2024 season, the newly constructed $117 million stadium will serve as a vital facility for women professional athletes to utilize and prepare. However, beyond its monetary value, the stadium signifies a significant step forward in women's soccer, providing aspiring female athletes with a world-class venue to pursue their passion for the sport.

Here's a closer look at the KC Stadium:

In 2020, the Current rejoined the league after a hiatus of two seasons. Now in their third season back, they are embarking on a new journey by making CPKC Stadium their new home. What sets this stadium apart is its distinction as the world's first exclusively built venue for women's professional sports. This groundbreaking initiative is the result of a partnership between Canadian Pacific (CP) and Kansas City Southern (KCS).

Headquartered in Kansas City, CPKC actively participates in community initiatives. Located at Berkley Riverfront Park, the stadium announced its first partner last year, "The Local Pig." The team unveiled an $18 million training facility in June 2022, privately funded by owners Chris and Angie Long, along with co-owners Patrick (with a net worth of $70 million) and Brittany Mahomes (with a net worth of $10 million).

This season marks the first full year utilizing the facility, which includes a world-class locker room, multiple outdoor pitches, weight and cardio rooms, and a FIFA-approved turf field, giving the Current control over their practices for consistency. CPKC Stadium is projected to seat 11,500, offering various seating options and in-stadium amenities.

The initiative not only provides a new home for the Current but also sets a milestone in supporting women's professional sports globally, emphasizing the Mahomes' commitment to fostering growth and equality in sports.
